It includes hands-on field placement at Fred’s Kitchen, where you’ll gain practical experience, along with the opportunity to earn recognized food handling certificates—equipping you with the skills and credentials needed to succeed in the industry.

Career Exploration
Unlock your potential with our Career Exploration program—a 10-week course designed for Ontario Works participants who need extra one-on-one support in finding and maintaining suitable employment. Whether you’ve faced challenges securing a job or struggled to re-enter the workforce, this program will help you overcome those obstacles.
Participants will gain essential computer skills, including Windows 10, MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, MS PowerPoint, internet navigation, and email—no prior computer experience required.

Drop-In Programs
On The Path To Employment
The On the Path to Employment program is designed with adult learners in mind, focusing on job readiness and personalized support. Participants collaborate with a coach and an employment specialist to achieve their employment goals, learning new skills, addressing pre-employment needs, crafting effective resumes, and developing strong interview techniques. The program also connects participants with educational upgrading opportunities, volunteer experiences, and resources to build confidence as life-long learners.
Our Newcomer Drop-In programs are designed to support newcomers with pre-employment needs. Our Employment Conversation Circles includes a mini employment-related language lesson and an opportunity to practice English skills by interacting with peers. Our Unassisted Newcomer Drop-Ins are a space for newcomer clients to use the computers, printers, resource boards and to work on job search or employment related tasks.

L.E.A.R.N. – Literacy, Employment, and Resources for Newcomers
L.E.A.R.N is a structured employment training program for newcomers that have arrived in Canada within the last 2 years, a minimum CLB level of 4, and little to no computer knowledge. The aim is to introduce newcomers to the Canadian Job Market and to teach entry-level employment skills.
Over the course of 8-weeks participants will take part in weekly computer classes and interactive workshops that leave participants with a completed resume and an understanding of the Canadian job market. Additionally, participants have the opportunity for one-on-one support to develop their job goals. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a certificate and post-program support for 3 months.
Through L.E.A.R.N, we offer an opportunity for newcomers to find their first employment experience in Canada.
WRAP – Community Outreach and Social Wellness
WRAP program is a life stabilization program for people on Ontario Works. WRAP helps the clients improve their social and mental well being by combating social isolation through connecting with their peers and community outings.
WRAP also offers short term case management and has a direct connection to our employment training programs.
Through WRAP, participants receive the stabilization and community integration required to continue working on their goals.
