What is the SSBAC?
Fred Victor is proud to be a partner of the Shelter and Support Board Advocacy Coalition (SSBAC).
The Shelter and Support Board Advocacy Coalition (SSBAC) was founded in 2023 by Fred Victor’s Board of Directors. It is a collaborative network comprising Board representatives from shelter and support sector agencies and senior management representatives from associated organizations. Current members include Fred Victor, Fife House, Eva’s, Toronto Shelter Network, and Ontario Non-Profit Network.
Goals of the SSBAC
The Coalition seeks to address systemic challenges in the sector by developing a unified “Board-led voice.” Its primary goals are:
- Achieving strategic objectives for each agency (e.g., fair wages for staff)
- Promoting systemic change in the shelter and supportive housing sector
- Encouraging collaboration among non-profit Boards and sector associations
Current Advocacy
SSBAC is advocating for fair wages and wage parity among agency, municipal, and provincial shelter workers.
