On the Path to Employment
The On the Path to Employment program is designed for adult learners, focusing on job readiness and personalized support. Participants work with a coach and an employment specialist to achieve their employment goals by learning new skills, addressing pre-employment needs, crafting effective résumés, and developing strong interview techniques. The program also connects participants with educational upgrading opportunities, volunteer experiences, and resources to build confidence as lifelong learners.
Newcomer Drop-In Programs
Our Newcomer Drop-In Programs support newcomers with pre-employment needs.
- Employment Conversation Circles include a mini employment-related language lesson and an opportunity to practice English skills by interacting with peers.
- Unassisted Newcomer Drop-Ins provide a space for newcomers to use computers, printers, and resource boards, as well as work on job searches or employment-related tasks.
Whether you’re starting fresh or looking to enhance your skills, these programs provide a pathway to a successful career.
L.E.A.R.N. – Literacy, Employment, and Resources for Newcomers
L.E.A.R.N. is a structured employment training program for newcomers who have arrived in Canada within the last two years, have a minimum CLB level of 4, and have little to no computer knowledge. The program introduces newcomers to the Canadian job market and teaches entry-level employment skills.
Over eight weeks, participants take part in weekly computer classes and interactive workshops, leaving with a completed résumé and a strong understanding of the Canadian job market. They also receive one-on-one support to develop their job goals. Upon successful completion, participants earn a certificate and receive post-program support for three months.
Through L.E.A.R.N., we provide newcomers with the opportunity to gain their first employment experience in Canada.
WRAP – Community Outreach and Social Wellness
The WRAP program is a life stabilization program for people on Ontario Works. WRAP helps participants improve their social and mental well-being by reducing social isolation and fostering peer connections through community outings.
WRAP also offers short-term case management and has a direct link to our employment training programs.
Through WRAP, participants receive the stabilization and community integration they need to continue working toward their goals.
