Aaliyah’s story

Aaliyah spent years caring for her sick mother, ultimately quitting her job to care for her around the clock. She used up all her savings. When her mother died, Aaliyah found out the apartment they shared was tied to her mother’s senior status. She had only a few days to find somewhere else to live. It felt insurmountable without a job, and she fell into homelessness. Aaliyah was constantly on the move trying to find a place to rest. It was unsafe and exhausting.

She needed a change, so she reached out to Fred Victor. We found her a space at our women’s hostel, where our compassionate staff worked hard to find her an affordable, permanent home. Now, Aaliyah has a stable place to call her own. She also has long-term support to help her work on her goals and rebuild her life on her own terms.
