A fab, fun, fashion fundraising event was held on March 7, 2013. Three hundred women raised the roof in addition to raising much-needed funds for Women's Services. Great energy suffused the evening. Thank you especially to our core volunteer committee and to the wonderful women who came and helped the night of the event. We seriously couldn't have done it without you.
State Street Canada sponsored the event and Divorce Marketing Group also came in with a matching program that netted over $10,000.
STRUT Wines donated great wine, Nine West donated $25 gift cards to everyone and provided all the shoes for the fashion show.
Nicole put together a feast for the eyes vintage fashion wear and David Dunkley wowed everyone with his fascinators. He even donated a truly classy and cute fascinator to the silent auction.
- took really fun photos of everyone there. All the wonderful Toronto merchants who donated auction items helped create an excellent silent auction. Every single item was bidded on, and the auction alone raised close to $6,000. Thank you!
Suhana Meharchand hosted and shared stories of her travels and the inspiring women she's met including several young women still in their teen years. Great energy from Suhana.
Another highlight of the evening was the Women with Purpose - Mary Sheffield Awards. Dr. Vicky Stergiopoulos, a clinician scientist and the Psychiatrist-In-Chief at St. Michael’s Hospital, and Fred Victor Women's Day Program volunteer Sandra Jones were awarded for their dedication and leadership in addressing homelessness and poverty in our City.
Thank you to our media sponsor: mybindi.com Believe it or not...
Even after a full evening of entertainment, we couldn't pry women off the dance floor to go home once the Bollywood Dancers began their dance lesson.
Overheard comments: "We had a great time!" "What a terrific event!" "I've never been to an event like this before but it was fun, really nice."
Photos tell the REAL story...
WHY did we do it?
We are raising...
- awareness of Fred Victor and the programs and services we provide AND awareness of poverty and its impact in our City
- funds to help homeless and low-income women to find and keep permanent housing , to get crisis counselling, healthy food, and necessities such as personal care and hygiene products
