On March 8th, Fred Victor supporters, board members and fundraising staff gathered at our second annual Fred Talk. The event welcomed donors who belong to Fred Victor’s Heartwood Circle (gifts of more than $1,000) and other major gift givers to hear about ending homelessness together, in particular, Fred Victor’s record on what we have done in the past year toward that end, and what we plan to do in the future.
A beautiful room that boasts large glass windows on two sides, part of McCarthy Tetrault’s offices on the 53rd floor of the TD Bank Tower, was the venue for the event. Friends Catering, Fred Victor’s social purpose enterprise, outdid themselves with some lovely snacks.
A community member who stayed at Fred Victor’s Women’s Hostel spoke movingly about her experience of homelessness, and Mark Aston delivered a stellar presentation that touched on advocacy, our partnership work with the Toronto Alliance to End Homelessness and our housing and housing support work with people experiencing homelessness.
Mark reflected on past and present social perceptions of poverty and homelessness and how this moment in our life together as a City is ripe for making great strides forward in ending homelessness.
