The Skills Development Program provides skills development and leadership training to Adults who are homeless, or who are tenants and/or service users of Fred Victor Centre. This program is comprised of two main components:
- Programming that creates supportive opportunities for meaningful community involvement through volunteer work in existing Fred Victor Centre Programs
- Structured skills development through an eight-week Healthy Cooking and life skills training program offered three times per year. This program developed for people who are homeless, recently moved into housing or are unstably housed. Also, this program works to provide structure and routine in a small group setting. Participants work at sharing and building life skills such as self-esteem, communication skills, goal setting, and working as part of a diverse group. We also work at learning about affordably nutritious meal preparation together; our delicious meals and conversation make a great learning experience.
Program participants are introduced to other social services they need through their participation/connection with Fred Victor Centre's Skills Development program.
