Gala Page
Overview..
The Gala raised just over $147,000, the highest ever, and boasted sponsorships from 10 sponsors, including long time sponsors State Street Canada, Carlson Marketing Group, and Ivanhoe Cambridge. Special gala guests included Mary Anne Chambers, former Minister for Children and Youth Services and emcee Merella Fernandez, Anchor, CityNews at Five. Entertainment featured ‘Las Vegas’ performers, Marilyn Monroe and Elvis impersonators., and the live auctions focus was on ‘experiential’ items, including heliskiing in Revelstoke, a Champagne Balloon Ride, and a one-week vacation in the Caribbean.

Mary Sheffield Award
A highlight of this year’s gala was the first Annual Mary Sheffield Award, presented to Valerie Hyman for her outstanding volunteer service in social action and service. Mrs. Hyman has been involved in many Toronto programs, including Out of the Cold, Streets to Homes, and the Multi-faith Alliance to end Homelessness. Her acceptance speech graciously acknowledged the work of Fred Victor Centre and the importance of this new award.
